CHIELI MINUCCI

Guitar

Guitarist Chieli Minucci comes from a musical background: His father was concert pianist and composer Ulpio Minucci. Chieli himself attended Ithaca College in upstate NY, where he initially majored in music, studying classical guitar, and continued as an English Major. He also attended Queens College in NYC, where he studied literature. In 1982, he formed the contemporary jazz-fusion group Special EFX (Grammy nominated for “Modern Manners”) together with percussionist George Jinda. With the untimely passing of Jinda in 2001, Minucci made the decision to carry on as he would have wanted it and continue what they had started. Chieli and Special EFX have recorded a combined 29 CDs, 8 of those being solo releases. Besides writing and performing his own music, Chieli has shared his edgy and melodic driving style with pop artists such as Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Lopez, and Anastasia, as well as jazz artists Kirk Whalum, Jeff Lorber, Norman Brown, Marion Meadows, Rick Braun, and many others. In addition, he is a renowned composer for TV and film.
