CHRIS WALKER

Vocals

Before he began speaking, he began singing: singer and bass player Chris Walker was born and raised in Houston. He got his start with his family gospel group, ‘The Walker Brothers’. The Walker’s raised their children with a strong hand, and once Chris graduated from High School, he was all too happy to high-tail it to New York, with only 40 dollars, in pursuit of his dreams of doing his own music. With aspirations of attending the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, he sold his bass amp and bought a one-way ticket to New York; despite being denied due to inability to pay the tuition. Fate, however, intervened as Chris was walking the halls and happened to come upon a jam session in need of a bass player. When he took the stage the school dean heard him and offered him a full scholarship – his career took its course… His musicianship garnered him collaborations with artists like George Benson, Four Play, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Candy Dulfer and many more. But a longtime dream came true, when he became Musical Director of Al Jarreau. He is currently working on a tribute CD to honor the life and legacy of his deceased mentor and friend.
