MARCUS ANDERSON

Saxophone feat. Lutz Deterra (keyboards) | Martin Feske (guitar) | Marius Goldhammer (bass) | Marcus Finnie (drums)

Saxophonist Marcus Anderson grew up in South Carolina and was introduced to the saxophone aged twelve. He studied jazz at North Carolina Central University and released his debut album in 2005. Four years later, at the age of 24, he won the Capital Jazz fest Challenge – this was a breakthrough for the fusion jazz artist, whose music melds R&B, Pop, Rock, Latin and Funk. Since then, he has had a meteoric rise to success, touring with Sheila E., joining the Prince’s band New Power Generation and regularly sharing stage with smooth jazz luminaries such as Lalah Hathaway, Peter White, Boney James, Kirk Whalum, Gerald Albright and Jeff Lorber. But he’s also touring a lot with his own band, thrilling fans with a show in which he not only plays the sax but sings and performs choreography as well. And his songs regularly hit the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart – his single “A Cup Of Joe” e. g. reached #1.
