NORMAN BROWN

Guitar & Vocals

Guitarist, composer, singer and Grammy Award winner Norman Brown grew up in Kansas City. Aged 8, he first picked up a guitar. Inspired by Jimi Hendrix, he soon discovered his father’s favorite artist, Wes Montgomery, and found his stylistic holy grail. After high school, Norman moved to Los Angeles, attending the Musicians Institute where he also taught for a time. While playing with his band in local clubs, Brown was discovered. He delivered his 1992 debut ‘Just Between Us’ and followed with a lot of other successful CDs, but it was ‘Just Chillin’’ that finally earned him a Grammy Award in the best pop instrumental category. Meanwhile, Norman has sold close to 2 million albums and virtually lives at the top of the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts. He also has shared stage with almost every Contemporary Jazz superstar from Boney James to Dave Koz to Gerald Albright. With saxophonist Kirk Whalum and trumpeter Rick Braun he founded the smooth jazz supergroup ‘BWB’ in 2002.
