PAUL TAYLOR

Saxophone

Another groundbreaking force among the sax elite of contemporary jazz: Denver native Paul Taylor took up the saxophone aged seven and graduated as a music performance major from University of Nevada. Though having lived in Las Vegas, the proximity of his adopted hometown to Los Angeles gave him many opportunities to vibe with other R&B and contemporary jazz stars, including Jeff Lorber, The Rippingtons and Keiko Matsui. In addition, the charismatic showman and longtime basketball enthusiast was part of ‘Gentlemen of the Night’ (with Marion Meadows and Warren Hill), ‘Sax and the City’ (with Meadows and Vincent Ingala) and ‘Peter, Paul and Euge’ (with Peter White and Euge Groove). His latest CD, ‘And Now This’, fully created via the exchange of digital files between Paul and his longtime musical compadre, collaborator, co-writer and producer Dino Esposito, features the saxman’s ongoing exploration of an expansive range of dynamic danceable grooves and intricate pop/electronica vibes.
